Grading Land Price GS1572 or GS2596 Grading Scraper?

Well, today we graded all our roads with the GS1572 and my box blade rippers, and it did fantastic. I'm glad I didn't get the larger one, but I do wish it was heavier, especially on our super hard packed gravel. But, compared to the box blade, this thing is a dream. We made the passenger side lower to take the humps out of the road, then leveled it back up and made a few more passes, it it made for a perfectly graded road. I use 4wd, because when it loads up, it would just spin the rear tires. Overall, very happy with the purchase other than not having the rippers. I might even weld some 1/2" plate on it for more weight. :)

Chris

This weekend I'll be using mine on a hard packed limerock road ... first time trying it on such ... & I have the weights from my old weight set ready to be added if necessary: Two 45 pounders, two 35 pounders & two 25 pounders = 210. If I need them, I'll be interested to see if I can even pull it! It'll be just over 800 lbs at that point.

I just weighed the shanks. I'm weird like that :)

1 shank + pin + pin = 11.4 lbs.

So five sets of them weigh a total 57 lbs.

I'm about to buy a GS1572 but I wanted to make sure 72" is going to be the right size. The wheels are 66" apart so I wanted to avoid a 60" but it sounds like these can be pretty hard to pull. The tractor weighs 4800lb without the backhoe. Do you guys think it will be a good fit? I have yet to take off the backhoe but even my L245DT was able to handle a 6' box blade pretty good so I think I might be alright.

You will be fine with the 72" unit.;)

I think the rippers/ shanks are now optional on the Land Pride GS15xx.

Just picked up a used GS1572 for $750 but I had to drive 4 hours to get it. It looks to be in good condition.

I had to make the same decision last fall - ended up with a Woods GS72C for my L3540 for $1200 Cdn. Overall best weight/design/cost ratio in my opinion. Could use something larger if you are only scrapping the surface on finished road but to do any meaning full cutting it will load up with dirt and use up my 35 HP in a hurry. I was surprised what a good job it does leveling when used in reverse. Does put a lot of torque of the 3-point hitch when turning though so need to be careful
