Looks like that will work fine.

It has already been mentioned, but make sure those front center chains will miss the blade when extended back. (You likely checked while building them.)

I added rubber guards to my Frontier RC1072 on both the front and back. I used old conveyor belting for the guards. I didn't know any better at the time, so I cut the belting a couple inches longer than what was originally on the unit, and sure enough, the blades caught the guards and the blades did exactly what they're supposed to do, they shredded the guards to the proper length for me .:)

Moral of the story, as gwdixon says, check the length first.

I've got them built and installed, now to wait for enough grass to grow to try it out.

I just found a better picture of the OEM chains on mine.

That's very pretty, TripleR...do you actually use it?

That was taken the day it was delivered; doesn't quite look like that now, but not too bad.

Here are a couple of pictures from last year; posted them before so sorry for the repeat. In the first you can kind of see the FEL through the weeds/brush and the second was taken out the side glass.

The last two are "after" as I am rotating cover over one of our farms and will do some more, maybe this whole area this year.

I thought about adding chains to the front of mine, but what I really wanted to do was cut down on the amount of dust that was blowing forward from my cutter, and onto me. All that dirt made life misserable to the point that I would put off mowing if it was too dry out.

I decided to cut an old tire and bolt it across the front of my cutter. The square holes in the front of it worked perfect for carriage bolts. I lined up the bolts, drilled a hole in the tire and bolted it on. I put it so the cup of the tire caught the dust and sent it off to the sides.

The result it like night and day. No more dust, and of course, nothing else flies forward either. Cheap, easy and VERY EFFECTIVE!!!!!

I have pretty much wimped out and use cabs for the most part, so dust was not a consideration. The problem I have had with rubber guards is that wet grass/weeds tend to stay bunched up and then come out in clumps.

It helps if you wear a dust mask (I've worn one of those disposable paper types) and goggles.
Anyone who brush cuts knows to clean out the tractor's radiator grills...that same dust and debris is being inhaled.

I did it for years with an old Case 995 and Massey Ferguson 375 open station tractors and it didn't bother me too much, relatively speaking, but I sure do love the cabs now.

Thanks guys. I checked the chain length, there's lots of clearance.

I'd like to have had better "density" or closer spacing, not a lot of room to weld in between the links.

I know now why Land Pride uses the punched holes instead of welding the chain on, it takes forever to get it done. I've got some free time at the moment, so it wasn't a problem in the end.

I like the tire idea Eddie, I might have tried that if I'd known before I made the chain type.
