It took the CJs 20 years to crack and they dont cost $40000.

Believe me, I know. My daily driver is 86 CJ7 rain or shine.

You probably will not have an issue with the CJ7. From inception in 1939 or 1940, MB, CJ2, CJ3, CJ5, M38, CJ6, until tha "new" style CJ5 and CJ7 in '76, the Jeep line had a "c" channel frame(it was boxed at the motor mounts). Those frames really flexed, and like to break at the spring hangars. Not all the time or anythin, but if you wheeled hard, you would probably see issues.

With the advent of the newer series CJ5, and the CJ7 in '76/77, they went to a box frame. No more frame cracking...

A Tale of two managements. The view was British cars are garbage because the workers dont know how to work and the unions are killing the industry. Well, the Germans took over the Mini and for probably the first time in history the British make (sorry assemble) a car that is thick on the ground. Ford takes over Land Rover and the other threads tell the story.

Ford has not had the Landrover/Range Rovers for that long, for what its worth Ford supposedly pretty much has left the Rover group a stand alone business from the Ford motor division ( so they say).
I know there has been some issues with the older Discoveries. We really like the Discovery it seats 7 and makes a nice family vehicle for out here in the country. My biggest gripe is too many bells and whistles/gadgets that can fail. But I got a good buy on the vehicle a few years ago and it has served us well.

From the input I have gotten it appears the consensus is that the Land Rovers/ Range Rovers are pretty much overated and trouble prone in some minds junk.

How does the Dodge made Durango SUV compare as an suv,I have not heard many of you mention the Durango.
