I purchased a used 1542 which was stored outdoors. I'm thinking the slipclutch should be checked to make sure it's working, but I can't figure out how to remove the plastic shroud around the pto shaft to gain access to the clutch. This has to be easier than it looks...I must be missing something fairly dumb here. Help! Thanks!

Mine had a port that you can pop off and get to the bolts one at a time. Mark the clutckes so go can tell that they have slipped.Mark the heads first, loosen each two turns, spin the PTO several times and make sure the clutches have slipped then tighten up the bolts back the two turns.
