I have used mine quite a bit so far. For the type of ground work I am doing I like the Ratchet rake better...I can see where the grapple would have a place, and I have tried to pull roots with it with mixed results.
As far as lifting I have been more limited by the size of the grapple then the ability to lift. Like the other poster said I clamp down as hard as it will go. Biggest thing I lifted has been 4 RR ties, I really think that was luck getting them all in there however...I have not been able to get 4 ties in there again....and I missed getting a photo.
Here are a few photos of 3 ties in the grapple, tractor lifted the wet ties like nothing, but to get more then that everything would have to be lined up just perfect.
