The hydraulics really drive the price up, but then I've been spoiled by the nice comfy warm cab of the truck I plow with. No sense leaving the comfy warm cab of the tractor

I will, however, miss the nice windrow I leave on my neighbors driveway... Perhaps I should start picking up his morning paper and delivering it with the FEL..

I just ordered an MK Martin Meteor SB75 P/T--a pull-type 75" blower with a hydraulic chute rotator, skid shoes, and manual chute deflector. The price here in BC was blower-$3530, skid shoes-$119 and hydraulic rotator $598 for a total of $4247. A manual chute rotator would have been $469 less.

A similarly equipped Meteor SB58 P/T would have been $3,717.

I also considered a Lucknow S6PT (72" pull-type) with skid shoes, hydraulic chute rotator and extra J-bracket reinforcing on the sides. It was $3,835 plus estimated shipping of $1,000 for a total of $4,835. The dealer thought the shipping might be less but, since the expected delivery is September, Lucknow would not quote firm shipping and insisted estimating it at $1,000.

The Meteor prices include shipping to BC which I imagine are steeper than most areas because of the shipping.

I believe going from a push-type rear-mount blower to pull-type rear-mount blower adds around $900.

Yes, adjustable skid shoes are options on the Meteor and Lucknows. The Meteor comes with fixed weld-on shoes but, as far as I could tell from the sales data, Lucknows don't have any skid shoes. The Meteor has a weld-on cutting edge while either a weld-on or bolt-on cutting edge is an option on Lucknows.

I have a good, fine gravel base on my road so likely don't need the skid shoes. I got them because I sometimes clear a neighbour's whose driveway has minimal coarse gravel.

The other pull-type I got a quote for was the Erskine 60" manufactured in Minnesota. The Erskines look better built than the Lucknows and Meteors if weight is any indication. The Lucknow 60" weighs 560#, Meteor 68" is 506#, and the Erskine 60" is 840#. A Lucknow 72" is 595#, Meteor 75" is 748# and Erskine 78" is 1,050#.

The Erskine 60" delivered to BC was $5,632 including $427 shipping from Minnesota. That makes me wonder why Lucknow quotes $1,000 for shipping a lighter item from Ontario.

I've been looking at the new Land Pride blowers.. Looks like a high quality piece, and built like the proverbial brick sh**house.
As soon as I see one on someone's yard, I'll decide.

first landpride snowblower yesterday - very nice. Looks rock-solid. They weren't shipping at the time I placed my order and I didn't want to buy one sight-unseen so I ordered a Ber-Vac at the time. When I went to pick up my Ber-Vac yesterday I got a chance to see the LP and B-V side-by-side. While there are some differences between them, both are equally well-built attachments at about the same price.

They compared closely enough that it looked to me like a matter of availability and personal preference. I don't think you'd go wrong either way.

As to the B-V, I've added a couple of pics.
