Hello to all,

Looking for recommendations on quality border edging.

The application is to enclose/border an area that is currently occupied w grass, to first apply a strong herbicide, then 2 layers of a weed barrier, then add rocks the size of ckn eggs. Then on top of the stones, I am going to place flagstone to walk on via 2-3 ft steps. Border trim as to be something strong enough to hold the rocks and deal w the temp water retention. this area sometimes holds temp water after lg rains, esp the winter time.

Note: (correction added) the lawn mower will need to access yard via this area, so the profile of border trim must be lower profile

Thank you inadvance,
tstex

It won't be too hard, how about the landscape border stones. They can be stacked for a retaining wall. Available at HD, Lowes, and many home improvement places.

I'm having some trouble envisioning this, but it seems the quickest and easiest would be to embed pavers to get the height you want. An alternative would be to dig a trench, form it up and pour a concrete border.

I know you have a need for this, and it's probably justified. We have similar spots at our home in various places that were there when we bought the home about fourteen years ago. So I have no real idea when they were installed. Bricks were used as edging on some of it, and pavers on others. The problem is that over time dirt, dust, leaves, etc work there way down in there no matter how diligent you are about blowing it off, etc. This causes grass and weeds to spring up through the rocks. I'm constantly spraying these areas with roundup, but it is a never-ending battle. If I had to do it over, and I may, I'd use crushed granite with a low metal border. It's easier to maintain over the long haul.

Thank you STC - I used green metal trim yrs ago and they work well in drier areas...lots of moisture will cause green paint to come off, then they rust to nothing - went and looked at them again today and I COULD NOT BELEIVE THE PRICES !!!!! For a 10ft piece, $41.00 and the more meatier connnectors are $8 & $9 for a very small little triangular spike. All of these prices have to start coming down, it's insane !!!!

Ok, this will work then, I used this flexable border for our stone/ gravel walkway. The mower goes over it really easy. There are different heights too, for brick pavers, flagstone, gravel, etc....

Maybe this will work better?
