I find myself in need of a landscape rake for my PT1850 for prepping a newly cleared hillside pasture. Power Trac only makes a light duty yard rake. I spoke with service at Power Trac and was told my best bet was to get an extra attachment mounting plate and weld it to the existing landscape rake of my choice. I was told the PT1850 could handle an 84 inch landscape rake.

It turns out I already have an 84 inch landscape rake for my conventional tractor. So, I'm thinking of just welding a PT mounting plate on to that rake as it would seem not to be in the way of the 3-point hitch attachment points. Then I could use the same rake on both machines.

Has anyone done this? Any thoughts?

If there are other 3pt attachments you might want to use, you could weld the pt plate to a 3pt adapter or with some measuring, you could make your own PT/3pt carrier. If you weld the pt plate directly to the rake, it cant be used for something like a box blade.

I have found that over the years there are a lot of 3pt attachments that I wanted to use on my Power Tracs. I made a PT to Skid Steer adapter, which is one of the most used accessories I have and from there I bought a Skid steer to 3pt adapter. Gets a tad bulky (and you could just weld your plate to the 3pt adapter) having multiple adapters, but it actually works good. If you think you will be satisfied with just the rake, go for it! Or look to the future and use an adapter. I attached a pic showing PT to skid steer to 3pt with a 3pt lifting boom mounted.
You could look back at my previous post to see more if your interested.

I have a [emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji6]” York rake that I welded on a mount and it has leveling tires. It works. It’s not great. The leveling tires are designed for dragging and not pushing. Someday I will redesign. I do t have pix but will get some if you need them.

Using your existing 84-inch rake with a PT mounting plate could really simplify things, and having one tool for both machines is a bonus.

I converted one a number of years ago. Mine has caster wheels. As has been stated, it does not push very well but is good with back dragging. I think it would work well for you.
