I'm about to pull the trigger on a new 84" landscape rake. I had one that I sold a few years back and have regretted ever since. I've been watching for a nice used unit on CL but I've miss too many and need to make a move now before winter. So I'm down to Landpride and Woods/Frontier. For athsetics I'd prefer the Frontier unit(JD Green) since it's a rebadged Woods. I've got both LP and Woods stuff so I'm familiar with both brands quality. I'm interested in hearing about tine attachment on both. I can't really tell which has the more robust tine attachment. I prefer the larger gauge wheels availible for the LP version but the top link yoke on the Woods/Frontier unit looks a bit more HD. The pricing in the LP is slightly less but not enough to sway my choice. So those with first hand expericence please give me some feedback. Thanks

Matt

i have the LP 84" with gauge wheels. i dont think it would be nearly as nice to use without the wheels.

I can move pa lot of material withthe closespaced tines. They have held up well though i bent a few when I backed it a tree.

Although I cant comment on the woods ( though it is probably very good) I highly recommend the LP

What model is the woods/frontier?

GWH,
both are good from what I have seen but I can vouch for the tines on my Frontier staying in place very straight after two years of use. My less expensive Leinbach rake with less use has the tines out of alignment. You get what you pay for, very satisfies with the Frontier/Woods quality.

You should take a look at the Everything Attachments landscape rake that we make at our own manufacturing facility here in Newton, NC. Our premium Xtreme duty rake is designed with tines that are bolted on and routed through holes with an 1/8" gap above and below the tines. This results in better control of the spring motion and helps prevent misalignment of the tines. The tines on our landscape rake are spaced at 1". The optional gauge wheels on the Everything Attachments landscape rake are also heavy duty and built to last. Everything Attachment's landscape rake is manufactured with several conveniences in mind like sleeved pin holes, a chain on the positioning pin, an integrated kick stand, and a clevis style welded a-frame hitch that is I-match and quick hitch compatible. Check them out here on our website along with the product video. These ship free within 1,000 miles of Newton, NC to a business or supporting freight terminal.

I have a woods LR72. The tines stay in place on it. I have never broken a tine on it. The only problem I had with it is I bent the piece of angle that the tines attach to with the 8n, and I am not rough on equipment. I straightened it and reinforced it. Now I need a 5' or a 7' rake since I got these Kubotas. I would not recommend a LR72 for a 3320.

The woods model is an LR107, Frontier LR2184, and the LP is an LR16. Ted, the EA rake looks pretty nice. But not the right color and since it's not as well known as the other brands potential resale would likely be lower. A quality looking unit none the less. I'm really only going to use the rake to spread gravel out since I've got most of the other rear attachments already.

The woods LR107 is a better looking rake than the LR72 but they both are only rated for 40hp.You are pretty much at the hp limit for the land pride. The frontier is not a bad looking rake either but I think the woods may look a little better.

I do not want to sidetrack the OP, but I am unfamiliar with the use of a landscape rake. What do you use it for?

You can use them for pretty much anything you would use a hand rake for like working over you driveway, raking rocks over a freshly graded area, raking leaves and brush, and much more.

GWH,
IIRC the LR2184 has the larger 4x4 box tubing frame that is what I would go with. My rakes are set up for IMatch if you are using this too then make sure it has a jack stand.

Yes, people generally pay more for used Woods and Land Pride implements, but people also generally pay more for NEW Woods and Land Pride implements. We are not trying to make attachments that are as good as those brands, we are making attachments that are better in function and in value. The Everything Attachments rakes have a clevis hitch(not offered by Woods and only on the heaviest LP model) and a much heavier a-frame than the spoken models. They also have 8 forward/8 reverse settings and use Italian tines although the origin of the other brands is not told. Woods and Land Pride make really good attachments and will always have a huge following, but competition is what drives the market no matter what the product is!

I think the implements you make look well built. I can tell by the way they look and by the way you talk about them in the videos you put a lot of thought into them. Also thanks for making all of those videos on the showing the features of the different implements and how to use them, they are very informative.

Thanks Bullitt for the compliment and you're right about the great amount of thought and research that goes into the design of our products. I've been around tractors and implements my whole life and I use the knowledge gained over the years to build my attachments as durable, user friendly and functional as possible with the best material available. I also try to provide you, our customer, with many quality photos and hands-on videos so you know that you're making the best informed decision when you purchase from Everything Attachments. We have several new attachments that will be introduced in the near future including a very impressive boxed frame adjustable disc harrow that is sure to be a hit so stay tuned!!

Very happy with my Woods. Stoutly built all around. If you decide on the Woods, you may want to get a price from Roseel's in SE Michigan. They ship virtually everywhere and have especially good prices on Woods and KK.

I figured I'd post an update to this thread. I went back and forth on how often I used my last rake and my uses now. It came down to the fact I just couldn't justify the cost of the new unit for how often I use it. So I decided used was the only option. I've been scanning a 400 mile range for a good deal. I missed several that were exactly what I wanted by just hours.

Yesterday I finally struck gold. I found a Frontier LR72 for $500 30 min away. I was the first to contact the seller, I picked it up today and It's barely used. The owner said he used it twice. I'll post a few pics tomorrow, thanks for all the helpful repies.

Ted,
Can your landscape rakes double as pine straw rakes? Or will that not work?
Thanks

/ Landscape Rake LP/Woods? #19
I doubt any landscape rake will do a really great job of raking pine straw because the tines won't spring like the pine straw rake. You'll probably end up dragging more with you than you really want to but it could work. I'm sure someone here has tried it so maybe you'll get some "hands-on" advice soon.
