Rake Landscape Rake Needed in MD

Anybody in the central MD area have a 60" to 84" landscape rake that I could borrow/rent for a while?

I am building a new house and need to get my yard in shape for seeding, I would hate to have to buy one for this one time use.

I'm nowhere near your area but you might find buying a 60" is less expensive than you think? I bought one from Corriher that included angle offset as well ...$315
In my area renting dosent help you at all in the long run, and I haved laughed in the face of a few rental shops that charge close to 50% of a new unit...
I picked up the guage wheels a few months after I had the rake, and I find them a very valuable tool in fine grading without ripping up existing topsoil or grass....they are very heavy duty as well..

I checked at a local rental yard, it was $100 to $125 a day for rental. Wife said rent, but geesh, renting it once or twice almost pays it off, and then you can still sell it and get most of your money back.

I just had my 5' Landscape rake delivered from Northern Tools. It appears to be a beefy unit. I was thinking about the wheels. Should I get them?

I used the rake without the wheels for sometime but always knew in my mind the wheel would prevent me from ripping up good soil or grass and would help in uneven terrain...
The first time I used the wheels for topsoil spreading I was sold....they arent inexpensive (about $200-250) but I now have no regrets...It depends on your machine as well, I'm fortunate to have position control but you only have so much and the tines dig into uneven terrain...it can be done without them no doubt, but it makes it considerably easier with them.
A good example for me is when I wanted to clear an area of debris without destroying the grass, I can now set the wheel height with the spacers so the tines do not contact the grass but rake the debris away...

I was recently in the same situation. Needed a rake for my lawn which was getting put in. At the last minute I called my JD dealer at 6pm and asked him if he could deliver a rake the next day by 7am, because I had guys coming in the afternoon to seed. He called me back at 10pm, after delivering a tractor and going back to the store to check if he had a rake. He was at my house before 7am the next day. Now that's great service !!

Even though I may not use the rake often, it did a great job and was well worth the money. It made a huge difference in my lawn.

I would purchase the Howse rake from Northern along with the wheel kit. You will never regret owning it and it will come in handy in the future. One of the nice things about it is that it can be stored outside and rust won't hurt it a bit. It might not look pretty 5 years from now, but it will still work like the day that you got it.
