Rake Landscape rake question

   / Landscape rake question #11
I tried that with my LRC-60. The land I need to rake isn't real flat. I've had no luck at all with raking straw or leaves. Every time I crest a small rise, the rake dumps its load. (and going back to pick up the pile with the front-end loader was more humorous than productive.)

I've been pondering a floating top-link like the mower has, but haven't gotten around to actually making one. Jenkinsph's suggestion looks good, but pretty pricey.

Hey ShenandoahJoe,

Is the land your working wavy or bumpy? If the land just has a bit of a wave to it, you might try replacing the fixed side link with a length of chain..

I know it works really good when plowing snow with the back blade to keep the entire blade on the ground.

But if there are just a bunch of small "bumps" it might not work out too well.

I think the thing I like about the pine needle rake is it looks like it would be more forgiving on the lawn. I have a 7' landscape rake and would be concerned about tearing out to much grass. I will also try out the pine needle rake to collect rocks from the surface of freshly tilled soil after using my rock bucket to collect the 3" and larger ones.

I think for $350 it is worth trying anyway.

How about picking up Hedge apples (about the size of oranges)?

When I use my rake to collect grass I just leave the 3ph lever in the down position and that allows the hitch to float. On my tractor it does anyway. Works well om my "wavy" yard.
