Here I am digging it out, the rock on the side is nothing, I filled up the side three times and then used the stone in building a few walls.

I tried to make the stairs rise faster so that I did not have to dig as much but it was not a comfortable walk. Now I need to put a few pieces of 6x6 on the sides and back fill with gravel. You can see the old water heater in the background, man what a week.
