Sooooo;
main frame; 28' X $4.75= $133
cross members; 40 x $2.80= $112
tongue; 7 X $4.35= $30.45
Side, front and gate plating; 56' X $2.30= $128.80
Forgot to ask about 2x2 1/8" for tongue supports, ramp, and posts for the sides... but it should be in the $3/ft range... so 75' X $3 = $225
2X6X10' pressure treated lumber X 11 X $9.86 = $108.46
Total; $737.71 X 1.15% (tax) = $848.36 and I bought the axle and spring hanger kit yesterday for $151.80 so $1,000.16
I'll still need to pick up springs, U bolt kit, fenders, hardware, light kit, wheels I have, tires I'll prob get used for free, tie downs and have to decide what i'll put on the upper 3' of the gate... So $1,200ish for a trailer that would be twice that much at the store.![]()
For the trailer you are building, I'd save the money and drop down to 11 or 12 gauge...even 14. All you are doing is adding weight to the trailer, and taking away your load carrying capacity.
Locally I can buy a 6.5 foot axle for about 90.00 and 7.00 for hanger direct. That's with hub, and springs on, ready to be bolted in. If you can take it back, I would and hunt around as that is way more than it's worth imho.
I can get a set for about 9.00-15.00, jeep style. Tires on rims are about 75.00 each. Light kit is about 20.00 for a 10-12 ft. kit. Typically it costs me about 490.00 or so to build a 5x10...plus the paint....that stupid paint.
