McChalkey - How wide is your landscape rake? Do you ever wish it was a different width for various jobs? I have considered purchasing a landscape rake and had wondered about advantages/disadvantages of a 6', 7', or even 8' rake?

Ranger - I've got the 7' model. As with everything, it's all about compromises. The last blade I had, which I sold with my L4310, was 8' and I almost got an 8' York rake, but it's a lot easier to get around with the 7' one. It's a little nicer to have the 8' when grading wide roads but, overall, I think I like the 7' one better. So far.

Sounds like you have the RI York rake model w/all the goodies.

I raked out several multi-acre lawns with an 8' rake. It worked very well for that task, and I'm sure that wider was better. However, when I got ready to seed the slopes near my barn it was just too wide to get into one swale properly, even at maximum angle.

Thomas - I've got the SSF model. They make an excellent product, don't they?

Ask away - that's what we're here for. There's a picture of the York rake on <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=other&Number=72595&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=21&fpart=11&vc=1>this page</A>, almost all the way down the page, but it was taken before I got it unloaded from my trailer.

I'll take another one soon. I've since switched the wheels around so they're behind the rake when I'm pushing (and rolling on the graded, vs. the ungraded, surface), so I need to post another pic anyway. The rake works a lot better with the wheels behind the rake. The only downside is that you can't angle it to the most extreme position, because the wheel hits the mount plate, but I haven't found that to be a problem yet.
