Although I would like to have the talents to make my own bucket, I am planning to go to Tazewell soon to purchase the light material bucket. I currently have the grapple and would like to increase my cubic feet.

Does anyone know the largest and practical bucket PT carries for the 1430 or could I get one for the next size up units to fit my 1430?

18 cu ft for the light material bucket is the largest they show on the website.

Your loader has the same capacity as my 1845. I have found the 18 cu ft bucket to be big enough for everything I need to do. If you had really light stuff to move, a bit of plywood could be bolted on front and sides, but I've not felt the need.

The 10 cubic foot bucket for the 400 series is nice for us, so an 18 footer is almost twice as much. Think of it this way... there's 27 cubic feet in one cubic yard. So the 18 cubic foot bucket is 2/3 of a yard. Then, if you heap it, that's even more. Sounds like a nice size.

Taking MR's calculations a bit further here are some other very rough numbers to remember:<ul type="square"> [*]Mulch weighs about 500 to 800 lbs per cubic yard
[*]Compost weighs about 1000 to 1600 lbs per cubic yard
[*]Soil mixes weighs about 1300 to 1600 lbs per cubic yard
[*]Gravels weighs about 2500 to 2700 lbs per cubic yard
So for a 18 cubic ft load (2/3's of a yard):<ul type="square"> [*]Mulch will be about 333 to 533 lbs
[*]Compost will be about 666 to 1066 lbs
[*]Soil mixes will be about 866 to 1066 lbs
[*]Gravels will be about 1666 to 1800 lbs
Remember mulch/compost/soils can very greatly depending on moisture content but this can give you a rough idea of the weights you'd be carrying in that 18 cu ft bucket.

I would suggest you call ahead and have Power trac weld a t-10 plate on one of there larger buckets (Larger than 18 cu.) In my experence it is nice to have a really large bucket. Although I only have a 422 it handles this bucket very well.

Isn't a 10 cubic ft bucket just slightly more than 1/3 of a yard, not 2/3's? A cubic yard is 27 cubic feet...

Your calculations appear correct for the 18 cubic ft bucket, which is 2/3's of a yard.

KenT, Thanks for that catch! I edited it so that it will be correct for future viewers... Sometimes my mind and fingers aren't on the same phone call if you know what I mean. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Is the small bucket in your attachment 5 cu ft and is it sitting in a 10 cu ft bucket? Then what is the approx. cu ft of your larger bucket?

What is a t-10 plate? thanks everyone
