last day of class - welding project

I went to the last welding class last week and the instructor announced he had got married that afternoon and was going to shut down the shop in an hour. That's when I got the idea for a last quick project. I heated it bent it and welded it up and took it to the farm. I threw it in the water and hoped it would work.

IT SUNK. luckily, I had a rope tied to it. (No daedong it was not a houseboat. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

I pulled it and pulled it and though I might have to get the tractor to pull it out.....

It continued to come out of the water real slow.....

My 1 hour grapple hook welding project worked!
The angles of the hooks were right where they would not dig into the mud and apparently the hooks were a good size. I must have had some of Harvey's luck!

Mike. That's almost as funny as the way txdon set us up on that one. Very cleverly. I felt so sorry for him when it sank, even though I didn't know at first that it was supposed to. Brilliant use of the caps lock to mislead!
It's a great looking grapple *** beaver dam extractor anyway Don.

Excuse #1 - Ron that is a cobbled up area of mud where all four pieces meet.

Excuse #2 - Ron did you read the first post completely? I had the instructor on my but, rushing me, so he could start his honeymoon. If I could fill in where the 1/2" bars met and grind them down in 2 minutes I would get an A. I finished in 90 seconds and got an A+. Of course it looks like a 90 second job.

Excuse # 3 - Ron I had another student weld that part while I cleaned the shop, so we could get out of there quickly. I would have done a much neater job.

Excuse # 4 - It is suppose to have the cobbled look, it sells better at the antique auctions.
