Amp672, you've got a good eye; those peaches were hard as a rock and green as a gourd when they were picked. I asked the grower about it and he said he had buyers crying for peaches, so he started picking them a day or so early. The pictures of the peaches on the tree and in the bins were made about three weeks ago, and there are still some peaches hanging on those trees that the pickers missed. They are still hard as a rock. I have my doubts about whether that variety will ever achieve a true "tree ripeness."
The pictures of the peaches in the hat and sliced on the truck tailgate are an old variety called Red Globe, and they just don't come any better than that.
Jinman, that is soybeans behind the Harris Farm Road Picture. Peanuts aren't nearly that upright. I would have thought that you would have seen plenty of peanuts growing in Texas.
Rox, come on down to Jawga and we will find you some tree ripe peaches. Might make a tub of peach ice cream while we're at it.
