Lateral Sway adjustments

Check the owners manual of the implement you are using.

I did check the Befco manual. That's what got me started on this thread initially.

My turnbuckles are frozen (rust). They're soaking in penetrating oil now, but I may have to use a fire wrench.
Before I do this, I wanted to find out was typical sway was...from the most trustworthy source...our bretheren on TBN!

Well, I did find part of my sway problem.
Went to a Deere dealer. Although they were closed, there were several 4100 tractors on the field. A perusal of the 4100N online manual (and my 670 manual...not a real clear picture in my manual though) indicated something was missing. Hence, the trip to the Dealer.
There are two spacers (~ 1.00" in length) that should be on the shafts that the lower links (tractor end of the link(s)) mount on. The anti-sway turnbuckets mount on the same shaft.
Since both are missing, they must have been purposely removed at some point in time.
Without the spacers, the tractor end of the links can move laterally about an inch. No wonder I'm getting excessive sway on the mower!
Reckon they weren't there when I bought the machine. I just didn't know any better then...

BTW, there was a 955 tractor on the same lot. This has a very similar arrangement (at the lower links) as my 670 does. As mentioned, the 4100 tractor also shares the setup. It's quite possible most of the x70, x50 and x55 series Deeres also share this setup. The 4200 series and larger are different (I looked at most of them).
So, another trip to the Deere dealer to obtain these spacers.
As they are simply 1/16th (1.5 mm) thick cadmium plated tube stock...about an inch long (probably 25.0 mm since it's a Yanmar built machine), they can't be too expensive...
Of course it's Deere, so they're probably $79.85 each.
