My wife got Lyme and Tick Fever, so I don't want any vegetation around my shop or vehicles in my yard lest she get it again or I contract it myself.

I'd like to kill everything due to that and for fire protection reasons. Area to be treated is about an acre, but everything in that acre needs to die and stay dead for as many years as practical.

EDIT:
Found a possible solution in another forum, copper sulphate. Less hazardous by far so I'll give that a try. Other suggestions welcomed

Two things come to mind, concrete & blacktop. Just be very careful with the herbicides.

I've had Lyme 5x...I can sympathize with your wife. Nobody likes getting that.

I use Ground Clear by Ortho on my driveways...works for the entire growing months usually. (I'm in CT so that's about 6-8 months only) But needs to be applied every year.

Paving is always a good idea.

Or goats. ;) If you have goats...you won't have vegetation.
