Interesting thread.

I have been using Now Cleaner for all kinds of things that I need degreased. I have not yet used it for cloths but I will try it now (no pun intended) and see how it works. Don't ask how I came accross this stuff but I had to buy 13 gallons (long story) and it worked!

I have a couple of pairs of coveralls I use for working on cars. When I tried to wash them in the washing machine, I got in almost as much trouble as the esteemed Mr. Skurka. I now take them to the dry cleaners when they get too funky and they come back spotless. Dry cleaning fluid is stoddard solvent (mineral spirits without the smell)

I have used Spray Nine white wall cleaner or what ever degreaser we were using at work at the time. Put your nasty clothes in a bucket or some where you can soak them for day or two, and use enough degreaser to submerge your clothes. Agitate them once and a while, when the water is good and dirty, wring out your clothes and put them in the washing machine. Use as much water as possible to make sure the washer gets rinsed good. It does not get all of the stains out or all of the smells but it gets most out. Or be lucky? like me, be a mechanic for a company that has clothes supplied by a laundry company, wear them while working with the tractor, and let the laundry company worry about it. I don't know what they use, but I have turned in coveralls that stand up on their own, and they come back clean and don't stink. Now if I could get those coveralls to do the work.
