Many years ago I overheard an individual who had been in Law Enforcement and was retired make the statement that "Society did not really want Police, Sheriffs or Law Enforcement, they only tolerated it as a necessary evil". I thought at the time this was a rather drastic and profound statement.

Recent events has lead me to start thinking maybe the old fellow was right. Watch this video and see if you agree.

I can't agree based on that video. The guy doing the shooting is a lunatic. His actions in no way reflect those of society or "normal" people. The guy in the video is not "society".

I don't know what the shooters state of mind was but obviously is was impaired or flawed. There is no way he represented normalcy from any demographic. But in the end, the quality of our gene pool probably went up a little bit.

Maybe provoke Sympathy for those who have fallen victim to gun violence. Maybe stimulate thought on how far we as a society have turned from the belief everyone has a right to the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness and we are a nation governed by laws and rules and regulations. When someone is stopped for a minor traffic violation, in most cases that would result in a warning get out the vehicle and start shooting, something is wrong. I don't think law enforcement wants sympathy. In our culture when sympathy is expressed, someone is usually dead. I think we as citizens should support law enforcement and provide them with the tools needed to insure we all can live and enjoy a free society and not be terrorized and included into a victim pool by every nut that gets his hand on a firearm.

I fail to see how the actions of one person whether it be this guy, John Wilkes Booth, Ted Kazenski or whomever you choose represents much of anything about society in general.

Let's see there is facts, fiction, fantasy, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus,CSI, NCIS, Hollywood and reality. Nothing in this video is reality. It is fiction. The most amazing thing is that someone ponied up some serious money to make the fictional piece of rubbish.

Not a good video to illustrate that normalcy from any demographic currently exist.

My son was a Police Officer for several years and I worked with a lot of them over the years, like any profession there are good and bad. I sure would not want their job and as aggravating as a lot of people seem to believe they are, when needed, we are all happy to see them roll up.
