Thanks for comments guys.......looks like most folks leave the clippings which I do most of the time except in fall when I have a ton of leaves. Watering is an interesting point......years ago when I lived in So. Calif., we watered daily but it was a small yard. Now.....I have about 2 acres of lawn.....we never water the grass. First.....couldn't afford the water....second....we get about 90 to 100 inches of rain per year. In summer.....we let the grass go dormant for a month or two......come fall....more rain and the grass turns back to green. We mow from March through late Nov. usually. I mow weekly except in summer when dormant. Thanks again for the comments....I'll share with my neighbors!

Every year before I mow our Lawn for the first time, I rake all the leaves up and take them to the burn pile. I then use the Weed Eater and trim around the House and outside buildings ant then use weed killer around the fence and other areas. I then mow on a regular basis.

We don't have much of a Winter break from mowing. My last mowing of the year, last year, was December 5, and my first mowing of this year was February 8, so I did go 2 months without mowing.

Personally, I don't think anything looks worse than a freshly mowed lawn that has huge piles of grass clippings all over it. It detracts from the overall landscaping and implies that the homeowner is a bit on the lazy side. I agreee with everyone that a certain amount of grass clippings helps maintain a healthy lawn, but this can be accomplished without the unsightly mounds of clippings. When I had my Craftsman lawn tractor, I purchased a mulch kit(mulch blades and discharge chute cover) and if I mowed often(not allowing the grass to get too tall) and slowly the mulch kit cut the grass clippings fine enough and forced them down into the remaing grass not leaving any noticeable piles of clippings. Now that I have a ZTR, it appears that the blade tip speed and the Commercial designed deck allow me to cut without a mulch kit and the clippings discharge leave no piles at all. I really like that feature of my new mower!!!!!

I just leave grass and leaf clippings lay.
Been doing it that way since 1966 .
That's 47 years it's worked fine for me.
I ain't about to to start picking them up now
