Lawn General
I have a Lawn General riding mower which is about 15 years old. The blades keep coming loose, making it impossible to mow. They don't come off but they are loose on the shaft. Repeated tightening is a short-term remedy. Any thoughts? It's like a bushing is missing or something. Or a lock washer.

Not familiar with the Lawn General mowers, but they were (are?) probably made by either MTD or Murray. More than likely the locaters for the blades are worn away on the jack shafts. Check that out, and if that is the case, take one of the jack shaft and bearing assemblies, along with the serial # for the mower, to a mower supply store and replace all the bearing and shaft assemblies along with new blades.
