Well, just thought I'd stick a photo of the scarifier up for all to laugh at /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

This is my first foray into metalwork of any kind and I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. I've used it a few times over a couple of acres of paddock and it seems to be working great. Total cost about £60.00.

Knowing me I'll never get round to painting it even though I know I should.

Problem is I've got a BIG new project just starting that's going to occupy plenty of time and mental resources /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It seems to work due to the grass on the ground, so why laugh.

Looks a lot like the 3pt dethatcher I built and offer plans for. Are you sure you didn't steal my design? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Scarifier looks good.

Do you have to have license plates on tractors in the UK? Or is that only if you want to drive it on the road?

Just curious.

Hey Mad you sent me the plans about 3 weeks ago /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually I made most of it up as I went along and took inspiration from yourself and others far more experienced than me when it came to fabricating the 3PH frame.

Now what colour did you paint yours so I can get the same shade /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Only to drive on the roads, and then just a plate on the back. No road tax to pay either which for a car is about $350/year.

Oh, OK. You know I have sent out over 50 copies of those plans. I have been waiting to see if someone built one. BTW, your tines are spaced too far apart.

I usually paint it with red primer then let the customer paint it as they see fit. Black looks nice.

There are actually two sets of tines missing off the back row in the picture because I didn't have enough - they're fitted now. The back row of tine are fitted in the space between the front set so the distance between tines is about 3"

How far apart are yours? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Each tine contains 2 fixed legs. Measure the distance between the fixed legs. Space the tines so that the distance between adjacent legs is the same as the distance between the fixed legs. So, if the spacing is 3" between a tine's fixed legs, then the tines should be spaced so that there is 3" between the legs of each adjacent tine. The rows should be offset so that the legs on one row fall in between the legs on the other row.

Hi metal chicken,

As I'm just down the road (nr Crewe) and also at the stage of clearing the dead stuff away, I have the frame on another project, but would like to know where you obtained the spring tines from and roughly what they cost in real money - GBP!

I have been experimenting with 20 mm HDPE blue water pipe as teeth - not perfect but seems ok for very light use.
Would prefer your tines though if you can help with sourcing

Your Tractor's a good age by the reg plate S (27 ?) looks in good nick
