Lawn Sweeper and Dog Bombs

I could just about fill my FEL with this year's crop of doggie poos. I just take a quick walk aroung the yard. My vibrum soles seem to find most if not all the little poos

. Then I carefully deposit the tread residue on the living room rug to be vacuumed up. SWMBO really does not like the methodology

. I do have a fancy boot scraper outside the house. Jay

So instead of "Waffle stompers" you could call them "Ca-ca stompers" If your SWMBO had any sense she would train you by rubbing your nose in it and telling you "Bad boy!"

She has come close; I do hear "BAD BOY" and/or its equivalent alot. As I get older I get more difficult to train, but I am using the fancy boot scraper more consistently and I am getting much better at vacuuming

We have 2 dogs and we call them Tootsie Rolls

The good dog as a puppy learned as we walked to the same spot to do his business, and as he performed we used the command word "hurry up" and now the hunt for his land mines is at least predictable. The bad dog decided at an early age to do as he pleased, he can plop one out at the most inapropriate times and places, we call him the chess player. As he has grown older the house also has become fair game.

I find it hard to believe that anything with wheels will effectively pick the stuff up as it inevitable ends up on the tires. Good luck, let us know what you find!

A little late for an existing pooch in the habit of laying land mines anywhere he pleases but....
My family always had large male labs (that make commensurately large piles) and they NEVER crapped on the lawn.
Dad's training trick--when they're pups food goes right thru them. Feed the pup then take them out 5-10 minutes later. CARRY them to the WOODS and set them down out where it's okay to go.

We had a lot of pachysandra and the dogs always went there. If they do go on the lawn, immediatly make them watch you pick it up with a shovel and fling it in the woods....while you scold them.

The pup will develop some sort of Freudian attachment to going in the woods! Mission accomplished.

Well there is hope of teaching an old dog new tricks! Or we can just send JBR out with his stompers to do the collecting on his stompers until everything is wedged in his shoes. Then make him and the shoes stay outside until everything is hosed off.
Yes teaching the dog to doo his business in one spot is a valuable lesson. Especially if you don't want the kids or guest to hit one of them landmines whilst out playing in the yard.

This is a timely thread for me. Here in Maine it snowed late november and I didn't see the ground until about a week ago. Now I have a winters worth of poop to pick up. Did I mention that we have 3 Great Danes?

When my lab was a pup he was trained to go in 1 spot and mostly he did. Last year when we moved I had to retrain him but rarely does he go anywhere but that spot.

We have two big golden retrievers and have not been able to do any clean up since early December...talk about a war zone. I find doing the big spring cleanup is much easier early in the morning after a good freeze. Makes it more like picking up rocks. That might be a good time to try the sweeper.

I try to collect as many "frozen poos on ice" as I can, but my two +90# dogs can put out the poo quicker than I can shovel it sometimes. I consider this time of year as "Poo Season"

which arrives right before Mud Season
