I like your "tag line" Crash101! Receipts should be automatically destroyed before arriving at the house :)

I have an L130 which is comparable to the LA165, paid about 2500-2600 best I can remember. If you can buy the X300 for 2600 I would recomend that as it is a good deal. You will be getting a lot more mower than the LA135 for the $600 and change.

I decided last spring that a lawn tractor was all I needed for our lawn here at home. I looked at a couple different models and my dealer told me that he almost refused fo sell the LA models unless the customer just insisted on them. He said that they were not near the lawn tractor that the x300 series was. So I bought one of the X300 series tractors and I have never regretted it.

How big is your yard? Anything strange in it?

Thanks,

I agree with Steve, if there is only $600 difference, then I'd be tempted to get the X300. If the price difference is significantly more, then I stand by my original opinion of getting the LA series tractor you were looking at.

the biggest selling point of x series over la series is the engine. commercial kawasaki vs. briggs. and the warranty. 2 yr 120 hour on la and 4 yr 300 hr on x300 series.

I am into the 2nd year of my LA 135, and so far, it has been great. I only have 1/2 an acre, and just use it to cut grass. Though the frame is not as strong as the one on the 300, I don't need the bigger frame to just cut grass. If I was hauling or doing more serious work, I would buy the 300 series, but for just cutting grass, the 100 Series does a great job.

Hi All,

I wanted to thank each and every one of you for your thoughts and suggestions.

After consideration, I've decided on the X300 and asked my local dealer to hold and deliver it for me (I'm actually out of town for the next two weeks but called and asked him to "save it" for me until I get back). Now I just need to figure a way to let my wife know.......

How about, "Honey, it followed me home. Can I keep it?"

Since the dealer will be delivering my new JD3320 with attachments at the same time...I was thinking that I would tell her that it either:

A: must have been pregnant and delivered a baby tractor along the way
B: I guess it is "spare parts" for the larger tractor
C: Perhaps the dealer forgot it and will be back for it later????

Not sure which will work best :)
