My mother, age 78, mows about 1.5 level acres and the old JD 110 is starting to wear out. Plus she would like to go to a walk-thru frame, hydro, electric PTO and around 42" cut. But we have only $1500-$2200 (prefer low end) to spend. Where we live our choices are limited (JD, Cub, Snapper, Simplicity, Husqvarna, Toro (Lowes, Home Depot)). Like grease zerks, cruise and "easy lift" deck adjustment (she is petite and not as strong as she once was). Now leaning towards a Husqvarna ($1600), but am not familiar with company. She likes the Snapper/Simplicity but they are at the high end price wise ($21/22). Need "anti-scalping" deck to avoid the rocks. Suggestions, please!!! Thanks!!!

You know what the credentials are-- have her test all the tractors herself before buying.. you can test JD's and CC's at the dealers, and they are the best people to buy from. The others I don't know if you can try before you buy. My true to life answer here would be to refurbish the JD 110 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, but if no other choice in that price range, you have to go with what will be the most comfortable machine for your mom to use.
