Lawnmower on fire as I finished up mowing.

I'm bad about cleaning off the deck on my 855. i've had it on fire twice while mowing in the 12 years I had it. I know they want you to leave the safety shields on the deck but they just pack full of dry grass.

About a year after I joined TBN, I was griping in a post about how hard it was to clean under the belt shields on my 7-Iron deck and one of the other members suggested I just leave them off. He was right, because it's much easier to keep the deck clean, and with the safety switch under the seat I cannot reach the turning deck spindles without leaving the seat anyway.

Wow. Glad it wasn't worse. I had to put out a fire underneath a car. Someone was trying to steal the car and caught the dead grass on fire when trying to start it.

I had to run and get the hose to put it out. It was getting so out of hand that I thought I was gonna have to call the fire department. I had my cell phone on me at the time. So I would have been able to call right away if need be. But luckily I was able to get control of the fire and was able to put it out.

Glad you got the fire out, but it's always advisable to call the fire department first. Better to have them come and you not need them than to have them be delayed because you called after things got out of hand. :thumbsup:

I am somewhat curious as to the method they were using to steal the car if it would set grass afire underneath it? Was it ALREADY a stolen car (HOT) ? :laughing:
