Not sure if it's just a LB1914 issue. I think it is a generic diesel thing. I own an LK3054 and usually pre-heat my plugs twice to start otherwise it cranks a long time and that's not good for the starter motor.
PS, my engine was brand new March 2005.

My Mahindra fires right off in even the coldest weather. We do get cold temps in New England. It just seems unusual to have cold start issues.
I hope nobody takes this as a "mines better than yours" post. I have a 2810HST which has a Daedong (Kioti) engine. I guess thats why I find it odd that there would be cold start issues with your Kiotis. I would think it could be glow plug problems. One cycle is all it takes for me. I don't discount that maybe maybe mine is an exception but, I'd rather believe others have continuity problems in the glow plug circuit.

You might think about installing a block heater to bypass the whole problem. That is, if you have an electrical outlet nearby.;)

I really appreciate everyone responding, I have tried to pre-heat twice even three times, I don't feel it makes much of a difference!
Does anyone happen to have the spec for how much voltage you should see at the glow plug during the pre-heat phase??
Can I assume that the test of voltage would be volt meter positive plug to top of glow plug, negative plug to a good ground??

Just for Info. I have three other diesel tractors (All Kubotas) each has it's own little differences, but the significant diff. between all the kubota's and the Kioti is that all Kubotas have MANUAL pre-heat which I much prefer. Obviously I'm used to diesels and cold weather, and I'm sure the KIOTI glow-plugs aren't working correctly, just don't know the proper test specs for problem issolation.
All in all I like the LB1914 for what it is. Can't say that it is more reliable than the kubota's, since 2 of the Kubota's are 20years old and still run like new! But the Kioti is a tough little tractor.
Any information at this point is much appreciated!!!!

thanks everyone.
