I've got transmission/hydraulic fluid dripping from underneath my 1988 JD 750 with MFWD.

I've cleaned things up and crawled underneath, it appears to be coming from the joint between the back of the transmission and the differential. The driveshaft for the MFWD attaches to the bottom of the trans in the same spot, so it might be coming from there as well.

I've tightened up the cap screws on the MFWD housing. The couple of transmission-to-differential bolts I could get a wrench on were tight. Getting to the rest of them requires some serious disassembly, so I'm putting that off for the moment.

Does anyone know if there's a gasket between the trans and the differential housing?

Has anyone else had this problem?

It's leaking seriously enough that I need to do something about it before the Spring busy season starts.

Paul, make sure it is'nt coming from the front of the rockshaft cover before you do all that work, this is a common leak point. Look under the seat, you may see a build up of crud and fluid in that area.

That was my first suspicion, as I've had the rockshaft housing off to rebuild it a couple of years back. I don't see any fresh fluid there, but I'll sure doublecheck before I tear into things.

Yes, there is a gasket between them

Ah. Thanks. I'll make sure to have the appropriate gaskets on hand before I tear into this thing.
