Have JD 755. Started it today and it is throwing lot of fuel from the fuel filter area. Hasn't done this before. Things seem tight. What could be the cause, and correction?

Hello and :welcome:

I'm not familiar with that exact model. A picture would be helpful.

If it's a screw-on filter, it could be leaking at the gasket. I would get a new filter and change it. If that doesn't fix the problem, post back with more details.

Thanks. I think that may be the problem. It is coming out where the collar screws on. It just started badly all of a sudden though.

According to TractorData.com, the last year of production for the 755 was '98. That filter may be older than you think, and the rubber gasket will dry rot.

Maybe that's all it is. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Thanks. So now have the filter and the gasket. The threads on the collar looked cross-threaded, so got a new one of those. Now I have a silly question. The manual says to remove collar turn counterclockwise. So to out back on I would assume it goes clockwise. But it doesn't seem to pick up the thread. When I removed I had to tap it around with a screwdriver. So my question is: which way does that collar turn to install?

The first time I changed the filter on my 755 it was stuck and I had the same concern about what JD really meant by counterclockwise and how the pieces went together. While laying on the ground and looking up at the filter, the ring from that view is turned counterclockwise to loosen from the metal piece above it. Clockwise from that view will install it.

Yes, thank you. Got it on and bled as called for in the manual. Started up, ran rough for a minute but then leveled off. No leak from the filter, as should be the case. I do notice now some small leakage at the injection pump, from a couple of the lines that head over to the injectors. Probably been doing that for a while. If I can find the right sized wrench, will try tightening, unless you have some other tips as to the problem/solution. Thanks for your help.
