...on an older Bolens lawn tractor - it looks like it's leaking right where the fuel line connects to the bottom of the tank.

So, how do I repair this? It seems a little loose, but I don't know enough about how the connector is attached to the tank to know if it's something I can tighten or replace or ?? Is this typically the same kind of connection for most tractors or are the connections unique to specific tractors?

Any help greatly appreciated...

Don't know that unit, so my advice is strictly generic. If it's a crack, rather than a leaking joint, JB Weld will fix you up.

As blueridge said, If it is a molded onto the tank nipple, glue of some sort will be required. JB weld will probably work, get it good and dry and rough it up a bit and let it set for about 24 hours before putting strain or gas on it.

Ok, I pulled off the gas tank. There is a little stem (that the gas line attaches to) which goes into a rubber bushing, which plugs up into the plastic tank.

I don't see any problems with the body of the tank - it appears to be leaking from the hole/bushing - the bushing looks to be in good shape and plugs in firmly - doesn't seem cracked or dried out...? It seems that the hole it plugs into might not be perfectly round - maybe that is the cause?

If a replacement bushing doesn't work & it turns out to be the hole itself, any way I can augment that hole somehow? Would the stuff you're talking about work with a plastic tank & in this application?

Thanks

Yep. Once it cures, you can sand it or drill it or whatever you need to do, and gasoline doesn't bother it.

DONE. And it appears to have worked. Sadly, I have suddenly noticed another problem which I will post separately. But thanks for the help offered here I really appreciate it!!
