Hello, I'm from Gilroy, Ca.
I have a 1975? massey ferguson 135 vineyard tractor and it has been THE tractor for my vineyard all these years. The PTO is leaking oil. A friend has suggested just removing the seal and replacing it. In my research I have run across articles that talk about removing the PTO shaft. That sounds tricky to me. Is there a way to tell if the bearing needs removing as well as the seal? Do I have to remove the shaft to do either a bearing and seal replacement or just a seal replacement. The friend also suggested parking with the rear wheels higher so that I don't lose oil. Is this OK? I own and operate the Thomas Kruse Winery in Gilroy.
