I have a CK 20 HST and the joystick valve started to leak last summer. I checked the fittings and all seemed very tight. So I proceeded to tighten them a little more. Still leaked but not as bad. Finally towards the fall of last year, I removed all the fittings on the bottom of the valve body, used teflon tape to wrap the threads making sure none of the tape got into the system, reapplied the fittings and tightened wrench tight. So far, January 2006, not a drop has leaked out. I was wondering if other CK20 owners had the same problem or just me. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The quick release fitting on my loader hydraulics has a leak where the hose threads on. There appears to be some pipe dope on the threads from Kioti that isn't cutting it. My dealer told me that tightening it won't fix it and that Kioti told them to take it apart, clean it, and reseal with teflon tape. I always thought teflon tape was a no-no for hydraulics. The leak isn't bad, just an ooze.

Highbeam, first off, teflon tape IS NOT a no-no for hydraulics. The reason others like to use pipe dope is that you are less likely to get some of that into the hydraulic system than with teflon tape. However, being "VERY" careful using teflon, you can get a joint that will be 100% leakproof for a good long while. Just make sure that when you apply teflon tape, you DO NOT GET ANY of the tape into the inside of the face of the connectors. You don't want to create another problem by trying to solve a leak. When I was in the Navy, I worked in a mechanical calibration shop where we used to calibrate pressure gauges, etc., and when we calibrated high pressure gauges (10,000)p.s.i. we ALWAYS used teflon tape to insure a leakproof seal. So just be careful on how you apply the teflon tape and you will get a much better seal than with the pipe dope.

are you talking about the fittings that go into the hyd block (4 fittings)? if those are the ones they are an ORP type fitting... We found on one customers tractor the o-ring supplied was to large and not letting it seat in the chamfer... got the right o-ring and no leak since....

I have also found the same problem as Jon had stated.

I would only use teflon tape on non-tapered fittings (flared).
When applying the tape, leave a few of the threads at the end uncovered to avoid getting any into the system and it should work fine.
