Leaves Day 2

I have a Walker mower with the built in collection system.. it works really well. Chops up the leaves as I mow, pretty fine so they break down even faster.

Also we have "burn amnesty" once a week in the fall and again in the spring. However it specifically states you cannot burn wet leaves. Really? Ok so now i need to dry them first?

Ah ok so as long as I am burning more than 400 ft from my neighbor I am ok. That means I can burn any time I want. Thanks so much :)

I maintain a 3 acre yard at our main house, which is along a river bottom, so we have a lot of sycamore trees. Anyone who is familiar with sycamore trees knows how thick & tough the leafs are. They will kill the grass if you don't chop them up. So, the gator blades on the Yazoo pretty much vaporizes them, so they can go right back into the soil. I have about one more round, and should be done for the season. The camp cabin, on the other hand, sits in the middle of the woods, with no yard. So guess what? I don't do a darn thing with the leafs there! Much prefer that style, and can't wait to retire & live there full time, and zero yard duties! :D

I was kinda shocked that nobody was burning leaves in our neighborhood this weekend, it being the amnesty weekend and all. It was rainy/snowy mix, but that hasn't stopped them in the past at all. They'll probably burn on Thanksgiving day now.

I just blow them into the woods with my backpack blower. That's putting them back where they came from. :)

If the ones along the driveway are really heavy I pick them up with my Trac-Vac, but haven't had to this year as they haven't so far blown heavily into the ditch.

If you leave the leaves on the lawn, does it mess the lawn up?

not really, unless they are super thick. although even at that, they compost down pretty quick. I put them in my garden and till them in, 3 or 4 years in and makes the best garden soil ever

If I leave the oak leaves on my lawn it all dies. I found that out when I did one year

I was chopping some up with flail mower, and putting some on a compost pile. Some I left in place. Whole place burnt down last week, so this year I don't have to do anymore leaves. New flail looks to be totaled, but as I left, I parked the two year-old Mahindra 1526 in the open, it made it.
