Picked up a 400 lumen 8.5watt LED bulb at Ikea in Toronto recently. $4 Canadian, on Sale.

Good bulb, and prices are coming down.

How exactly can 3 watts be equivalent to 25 watts?

LED is more efficient, Produces more light with less electricity.

Now you have to go by Lumens: Learn About Light Output : ENERGY STAR

I had a cfl in a reading light that started smoking while I was sitting there. Glad it happened when it did.

What about a motion sensor instead of a photo switch, for people who are only interested in not stubbing their toe while heading for the light switch?
