LED trailer lights

There was a recall of them a year or so ago. The claim was that some of them did not meet DOT standards. They may have redesigned them to meet current standards which could account for the higher price.

I don't know if mine were subject or not and didn't really care since they're on a utility trailer that doesn't get a lot of road use.

Used Max Haul from Amazon without any issues

Almost all of my trailers have the same 4in recessed rubber mounted lights. I dont like the box syle trailer lighys. There to easy to break.

I bought all my trailers used and for the most part they needed to be completely re wired. I also have a mason dump that uses the same 4in rubber mounted lights.

I've had great success with the HF led taillight kit. Has held up the best so far on my dump trailer

FWIW, I found that if one needs replacing, the rest likely do. I searched around and compared prices for individual and sets. I bought something generic -- make sure the lights say DOT (though any fool can mark them as such). No preferences on my part.

Thanks everyone for their comments, I bought the Max Haul off of Amazon for $21.99. I was surprised at the quality of the wire and lights, very nice set, for the price.

I really like LED lights. Probably the only real bee atch about them is that they do not create enough heat [ waste heat ] to help remove snow or ice in the winter. That is why it is easier to rear end semi's in the winter snow storms.... You can buy Jeep LED headlights that have heaters built in to help keep them from caking with slush. :)

I have normal bulbs on my car and the heat from the lights dont melt the snow now get me rear ended.

I think your forgetting the huge vortex of air behind a semi. All that salt, road grime and water gets sucked to the back of the truck.
