I don't think it's for the taxes... think way out there... There are those who'd like to deny our right to bear arms. If they ever succeed in doing that, this way they will know where to go to get the guns. I have many that were bought with a yellow form, but I always make sure I have enough that were bought legal, but from an individual. No yellow forms. They don't need to know anymore than they already know.

Who would dare own so few guns. :D I just went over 150 a couple of months ago.

I can see the headlines now:

From the news wires -- Today, Fairfield, PA police arrested a dangerous armed rodent. The long toothed criminal was found to have more than 150 guns in his possession. Fortunately, he was stopped before he went nuts going after nuts. With winter fast approaching, Fairfield Police Department investigators felt they had no choice but to act immediately upon learning of the fur bearing bandit and his arsenal.

The investigation is said to have sprung from surveillance of a subversive tractor site. Further arrests are contemplated.

:D :p :D :p :D

HA ha! Good one!

I frequently take groups out to my farm to shoot. Sometimes youth who don't get to do that sort of thing, (It's fun to teach teenagers how to shoot, and to respect the weapons), family, friends... different groups. When we go I usually have 12 -15 different types of guns in the bed of my truck from pistols, to rifles, to shot-guns, and AR-15/FN FAL/Thompson - type rifles for the grand finale'. Of course they are all different calibers, and you need a bunch of each type.

I've often wondered what the headlines would read like if I was in a wreck on the way there or if I got pulled over for some reason and they searched my truck. With a load of weapons and lot of ammo... I'm sure that would 'cause a pucker of different sort amongst some crowds. :D

Yep.. depends on who the cop was.

Strangely enough.. seems that police are not always as up on the 'law' as they probably should be.

I used to go out to the local state run rifle range with a few friends to shoot class III weapons.

You could almost set your watch by how long it took a squad car.. or game warden to show up after peeling off a full auto burst.

What's dissapointing is that half the times this happened.. the responding officer was completely unaware that a private citizen could own a class III gun.. that made for a tense situation a couple times... I've got no beef with law enforcement.. but they -REALLY- should know what is legal and illegal.. in their jurisdiction.

I remember seeing the pix of Randy Weaver's guns on a blanket after that fiasco played out. The talking heads made it sound like he really had a stash of high tech killer stuff. I think he had a Mini 14 and some hunting guns, I was thinking the same thing you're talking about....Gee, they'd go nuts if they saw my stuff, I make him look like a Boy Scout!!

I also remember seeing the Randy Weaver 'cache' on the news...IIRC, there was a BB gun or pellet rifle in the mix.

Very, very dangerous weapon. You could put an eye out.

I've never shot full auto, but I have a buddy who has two class III's. He said the same thing about them showing up where ever you are very fast anytime you shoot one.

I guess it would be a tad off topic to share that stuff here, huh? It'd be fun to start a thread of your favorite "evil" rifle. How close is that to the edge of what's allowed on a "family" website? Actually for me, shooting is a family event. When we all get together at my papaw's for Christmas, we all bring our guns and shoot skeet. Mother's day, bring your guns. The very first date I had with my wife, I took her shooting at my uncle's farm. So, shooting is as much a family thing for me as church on Sunday. :)

ROFL!!! :D

Actually the police in my area wouldn't need to do any surveillance, they already know what I have. All of the local officers are welcome to use my ranges anytime they want to and many do.

Spivey,
Seeing your previous post saying FN/Fal/Thompson, I was surprised at your statement of never having shot a class III. A full auto Thompson with a 50 or 100 round drum is probably my favorite gun to shoot, especially if somebody else is loading them and paying for the ammo! Come on down to Florida and we will step out back and see how fast we can get the cops to show up!

Sandman, That would be awesome. Right now I live in Lexington, KY - very... uh... let's just say that the sheriff, well, she won't sign off on the class III deal, nor will the county coroner, so in Lex that law doesn't seem to help the private citizens. However, we plan to move to Richmond, closer to or out on our farm in the spring. They are much more "rural" of a town than Lex and we should have better luck. Of course then there's the matter of the finances. My gun money is tied up in tractor stuff right now. I actually sold the Thompson to assist in the FEL budget. I loved the Thompson, but a semi-auto Thompson is pitiful. Full auto, it would probably be my fav too. I tried one of those external trigger mods for my AR-15. Worked kind of well. You could get a few bursts before it jammed. I used wolf in my first AR and I think the steel jackets damaged the feed ramp (not sure) but it wasn't too reliable. Never bothered with that thing on my current AR. Use better ammo and have never had a problem. But it's still semi. The FN - that's my favorite. .308 with an integral bi-pod, "the right arm of the free world." It's not full auto, but squeezing that puppy off as fast as I can it sure feels good. Enough to get a 5 gal bucket dancing in the air. :D

I went to the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot but the day I was there they only rented .50 cal and flame throwers, no smaller arms. Oh well. Maybe next time.
