Just picked up this used 8 foot, 3 pt hitch, Cat 1 boom made by the Leinbach Co. It will be useful when I don't have the front end loaded mounted and I need to move an implement or anything heavy.

They can be very useful. But to me requires very slow and careful operations of the tractor as any movement of the tractor is so magnified at the end of the boom. Looks like a nice boom.

I wonder how hard it is to stand my tractor on its rear end with too much weight on the boom? Oh well, I guess I'll find out.

If you use reason probably will never find out. The area using a boom that gives me the most problems is how little movement of the front end of tractor makes such a big difference in where the end of the boom is. Next was thought I was smooth on the 3pth hitch but again it really exaggerates any movement. Be carefully creeping something heavy down, keep hands and fingers clear.

They really can be handy. If you have remote hyd on this tractor a hyd third arm can be very good to raise or lower it. Might find it smoother than the 3 pth.

Probably about 1/2 ton on the short loop and 500 lb at the end loop depending on the tractor's size and weight. I'd say a 500 lb lift at the end would be fairly easy as a static lift, but it could get squirrelly if you get moving and go over bumps or uneven ground. Things happen quickly with dynamic loads; keep the load low and be prepared to drop it to the ground in a hurry. I have two boompoles that have never been used since I bought my tractor with the FEL. I should sell at least one of them, but just haven't done it yet.

Edit: Your shorter loop is farther out than on my boompole (I think). That would probably mean it will be more like 700 lb maximum instead of 1000 lb if it were closer to the tractor.
