Has anyone used one of these Leinbach cultipackers before? I am planning on doing some fall food plots this year for the deer. I have a 5ft KK tiller that I'm going to use to break up the soil. I have sandy to sandy loam soil composition. I will be planting clovers and mixed small seed blends. I'm planning on purchasing the 7ft Sprocket wheel model. I believe My Kubota B3030 should be able to pull this cultipacker with out a problem, but I want to verify that I won't have any issues. Any feedback will be appreciated.

I have the 8 ft model; it weighs about 1000 lbs. As long as you can lift it OK, it doesn't take much power to pull it at all. I've used mine on broadcast millet, and it worked great.

As Ron pointed out, it takes very little to pull these. If your tractor has the weight to lift it, power won't be an issue.

I have a 8' Leinbach smooth wheel model. A cultipacker helps greatly with germination of small seeds. Disking clovers, millet, alfalfa, wheat, oats etc. will invariably bury many seeds too deep for them to germinate. Cultipacking small seeds on a good seedbed maximizes your germination rate. Of course, if you have a drill, that is probably the best alternative, but most plotters don't have drills.
One major advantage of the 3 point hitch cultipckers as compared to the pull type for food plots is the ease of working in small fields. Many food plots are in smaller areas where turnaround room is at a premium.
All in all I would consider the Leinbach 3 pt cultipackers as a very worthwhile attachment.

I am about to buy a 6 foot leinbach cultipacker. This unit weighs approximately 700 lbs. Will this bury broadcasted seed too deep? also the unit i am looking at is a smooth one. anyone who has used this, does it bust up clots well and smooth out your soil like they say? should i consider a sprocket model? Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated. I am planning on purchasing tomorrow, just waiting for a little feedback. Thanks.

When using a cultipacker, broadcast bigger seed like beans or oats before packing. For small seeds that need to be shallow like clover or brassicas pack first, broadcast, then pack again. Sprockets or not really doesn't matter IMO. I don't think they are worth the additional cost, but I work on mostly sandy land.
