I think it must be engine-oil lubed.I took the fill cap off on the top of the engine (the one on the valve cover) and blew some compressed air into it.The air came out the orange fill cap down on the front of the pump,so the passage is direct into the crankcase.Agree?
Mike

No & yes, you just verified that the push rod passages aren't plugged - has absolutely nothing to do with the injection pump.:confused2:

After looking at page 31 it is clear that your fuel injection pump is NOT engine lubricated.

Not necessarily. There's also a path for that air to take that goes through the drive assembly. Not saying that you're wrong, but you HAVE to count the hoses into and out from that pump assembly. Minimal hosing suggests fuel only. Otherwise unexplained hosing may carry lube oil. Based upon what I see in your photo, there are no (visible) unexplained hoses. If I'm wrong, it's a matter of disconnecting the various hoses to see if they're carrying fuel or engine oil.

Ok,I took out the fill plug as shown in your photo-there is basically nothing in there to speak of as far as oil.Should it be clear full? There is no dipstick on the fill plug. Thanks again,
Mike

Well, many pumps without a dipstick have a threaded plug on the side that fulfills a similar function. Once the sump has been drained (or emptied by whatever means), you remove the side plug. Slowly pour fresh lube oil in through the top, stopping as soon as it starts dripping out the side. Replace both side and top plugs, go back to work

As noted by others, the orange cap from which the air exited is nothing more than an alternate fill/vent for the crankcase, and has nothing to do with the injector pump/governor assembly. You have demonstrated that the passages from the valve cover down to the crankcase are clear and nothing more, sorry.

I don't see any hoses or piping that would indicate an oil supply from the engine to the injector pump and the pump has a fill/vent cap so it almost assuredly has its own oil sump. From the Mahindra manual (post #10) for the same engine, I see "28.4.5 - Every 500 hrs or 2 years drain the oil in the fuel injection pump. The drain plug is located under the pump directly above the engine oil filter housing." That may or may not apply specifically to your particular tractor, but it is certainly indicative that yours is independently lubricated.

If you simply cannot find the drain plug, then I'd suggest sucking the oil out the fill hole then flushing with some kerosene and sucking that out, followed by a second flush with motor oil and finally filling with fresh motor oil. Similar injector pumps take anywhere from 6 to 12 ounces of motor oil for proper lubrication, so that gives you a guideline for filling. I could find nothing in the Mahindra manual that listed a quantity. My own guess would be that filling it to a half inch below the top of the housing would be a reasonable starting point, but I'm just guessing based on how full my injector pump is when the dipstick says it's full.

Makes sense to me now Guys-thanks very much.I finally did find the drain plug under the body-what a bear to get back in.The oil that came out was awful looking and smelling. Then, found the tiny dipstick back behind the cables. So there you have it-the Lenar 254II pump does have a filler hole, dipstick and drain, even though I can find nothing in the manual about it.Thanks again everyone,
Mike

The URL i posted a few post back is acctually is LENAR 254II manual and not the Mahindra 2525, maybe it is somehow better then the one you got, I know the Chinese manual can be a bit unclear with things.

I downloaded and saved a copy of it Sweden-thanks very much.It is more informative than my Lenar manual.I do have the parts breakdown manual too, hopefully I won't need it too often as parts for these may be getting hard to find. Most of the Mahindra 2525 parts interchange, but the 2525 supposedly is no longer being produced according to a guy at New England.
