BX23
Hi all, I bought my BX-23 last month and love it. I have 35 hours on it already! However, I noticed something that either is real, or I am getting spoiled. I now You can all set me straight if need be!

1. When I 1st bought the machine, I would put it away with the BH all curled up. It would stay that way all week until I came back out to use it. Now, after one day the bucket has settled to the ground.

2. When digging, it seems I have lost power to the BH. It stalls more than I "remember" when it was new. I suppose it could be my getting familiar with the machine and starting to get more aggressive with its use, but I am not fully convinced of that.

Do you suppose I have an issue and are they related, or is the machine just getting broken in and losened up? I have been greasing the fittings every 10 hours as recomended, and I did not notice a lot of grease when new. Lots there now!

Also, when I grease the boom Left-right cylinder, no grease appears to go "in" the valve, just overflows around the nipple. Could the nipple be bad or blocked?

TIA

I'll tackle part of them.

Almost NONE of the hydraulic equipment will not leak down overnite or in a few days. Live with it.

On the grease thing, remove the zerk and see if it takes grease. Either open it up or insert a new one. If grease is coming out around the nipple, none is getting where its needed.

Did you use the supplied pin to hold up the BH? If not, if will fall and over time your seals will leak. Use the pin, that is what it is for.

On the greasing, I have one zerk fitting that does not like to take grease. It is the fitting near the wheel that has the circle hole cut out in frame to access it. I will pull it out and check myself.

Next, the machine should not stall at all. When throttle position are you running at?

My Tractor had several hydraulic fittings that started weeping after 10+ hours. I snugged them up by hand to stop the weeping. Is it possible that you have some fittings that are allowing your hydraulics to bleed pressure overnight?

OK So no worries on the leak down. I did not think that was an issue in itself.

Yes. its the nipple by the rear tractor wheel. I'll give it a closer inspection. Its never taken grease and I am concerned it must be getting a little dry.

I don't bother with the pin, I use the BH too much.

As for stalling, maybe I used the wrong term. Its not the engine that's stalling. The implement stops moving when I move the control.

jhb,

As a matter of safety, it would be a good practice to lower the loader and the backhoe to the ground any time you park the tractor. All hydraulics will leak down--some slow and some fast. It is just a matter of degree.

I have the same stiffness on that fitting. It does take grease, but it takes alot more pressure on the gun than the other do.

I always use the pins when the BH is not actually in operation. If you go around from place to place with the just hydraulics holding the BH in place, you are putting a shock load on those hyd. cylinders every time you jounce over a bump. That probably doesn't have anything to do with your gradual leakdown - that's normal - but it sure isn't doing the cylinders any good. They will last longer before needing overhaul if you use the pins.
