Let's lose a tractor!

Just weighed myself at 230 lb. down 5 lb. Haven't done anything special just cut out drinking soda, cut down on portions, cut down on chips and cake. (All the good stuff).
Not bad for 6 days. Hope I can keep it going this way.

I'm about 265 and I should be around 185 since I'm 6' tall and 61 yo. Being realistic, I need to lose at least to 200. I can do it with a sub-1000 calorie per day diet.

The first week for me always brings massive weight loss. The reason is I drink lots of fluids and eat lots of fruit to get "things" going. Unfortunately, last Friday night, both my wife and I came down with a 24 hr virus. Saturday, I was going at both ends. I took that as an opportunity to kickstart my diet and just went with the flow (pun intended).;)

I have set standards for myself on a serious diet. I don't eat bread, anything with sugar, no chips, no fries, and no fast food at all. For breakfast, I eat fruit: apples, oranges, tangerines, pineapple, bananas, peaches, etc. I'll eat one apple and one orange, or 6 oz of pineapple or peaches (unsweetened), or some other combination of fruit. I don't eat lunch at all. I drink water, coffee, or unsweetened soda all day. I eat a snack piece of fruit normally around mid-afternoon to curb my appetite and carry me into dinner without being too darn hungry. For my evening meal, I pick something less than 800 calories. I've had bowls of okra gumbo, blackeye peas, and cabbage rolls this week. I even had two left over smoked ribs with no added sauce. I also eat a nice big salad with a mix of broccoli, lettuce, tomato, onion, mushrooms, shaved carrots, etc. The salad provides a lot of bulk and I use 68 calorie per teaspoon dressing.

Yesterday morning I weighed 253 lb, down from 265 lb. I have not weighed today because my DW is still asleep and I don't want to wake her. I don't think I'll be anymore than a pound lower at best. So my first week of dieting has rewarded me with a 12 lb loss. If I average 5 lb per week, I'll be happy. Let's see how I do for the next week.

Good luck to everyone.:)

Wow!! Good job. If I had the kind of will power you've got I do a lot more than lose weight.

Keep it up.

If is is not too late I would like to get in this...?

I have lost 20 lbs between Oct '08 and Dec '08 so that won't count. I was around 247 lb at 6'. Doctor said my glucose was a little high and to cut back on sugar. I did not cut back I cut it completely out and lost the 20 lbs. I have always ate healthy and been involved in weight lifting / physical fitness program ( power lifter in college) and just need to increase the cardio.

Currently at 49 1/2 years of age I am 227 lb and still 6':D. I would like to lose another 10-15 lbs.

My BMI is 31 the normal range for my height is 23, so I would need to be 7' tall :eek:at my current weight. Since i don't think I will grow taller I'll drop the weight.

The weight should come off easy once the time changes back and I can stay outside more.

I might as well join in since I need to lose the weight anyway. Too bad this wasn't started last fall. Got a new puppy (siberian husky) and lost 10 pounds in 3 months just from walking her longer distances. My wife and I try to walk the dog 2-3 miles a day, up to 5 on weekends. I did gain 4-5# back over Christmas.

Anyway, as of today I'm 203 pounds. I would love to get to 185. At 6' tall I feel comfortable at that weight.

No change yet for me.

I use 68 calorie per teaspoon dressing.

 I guess I told a little fib there, but it turns out the fib is on my side. :)

My salad dressing is 15 calories for two tablespoons. I normally use about 4 tablespoons on my salad, so I'm at 30 calories. There is zero fat.

I love blue cheese dressing, but I just don't eat it when I'm on a diet.:(
