Do any of the PTO pumps available put out enough pressure and volume to make them worthwhile for fire fighting?
A lot of folks have ponds etc...and live in remote areas...just curious...

That doesn’t seem like a solid plan unless it lives on the tractor.

AND then there is California, they want a fee for you to have an unregistered vehicle on your property.

You only have to pay the $22 non op fee once. Or you can not bother to declare it non operational and just not pay the registration fees. That can get expensive if you ever do want to register it though. You used to be able to non op it any time for free, now it has to be done before the registration runs out because too many people were abusing it.

Watermellon Hill wildfire. It was five years ago. Started about 25 miles SW of my property. Started by a couple guys shooting those exploding targets. The SW winds were especially strong - blowing burning "fire bombs" forward an eighth mile at a time. Even the helicopters with their drop buckets were having little effect. It was all very exciting - watching the copters dipping out of my little lake. That was - until the State Police arrived at my house.

The big lake - Alkali - provided the need fire break for my property. Finally the local farmers - their humungous tractors & disk harrows provided the needed fire break.

It all happened so fast. The State Police drove in and notified me. REQUIRED that I leave my property along with them. It was me, my dog, my tractor, some underwear & T-shirts and my check book.

Very fortunate - the wildfire was stopped right at my West property line.
