My friend is in HVAC. A multitool is handy for him.

All Multi-Tools pinch me sooner or later. Gerber is still my favorite though

Here's my WWII Colonial air crew survival knife. My father probably carried one of these on his missions.
The other blade on it is a hardened hack saw blade that would supposedly allow cutting the airframe to keep from being trapped. These were issued to Army Airforce and Navy(Marine Aircrew).
The small knife is a regular sized Old Timer pocket knife.

Does that survival knife have a locking blade? Cool keepsake.

Hey Doofy, yup, both blades are locking. I didn't know about these knives 'til long after Dad had passed or I would've asked him...what happened to yours? I'll have to make a leather belt sheath for it as it's pretty heavy to just have in your pocket. It does get some comments, though, when you pull it out to cut something. LOL!
Edit: After thinking about it....the saw blade might not be fully locking, but the main blade definately is.

I also missed the opportunity to ask my family those million-and-one questions that should have been asked. Now, I will never get any of those answers because those with those answers have all passed. When you are young, you know every thing. With age, you realize you don't but wish you did.

Keep those memories you still have and hold them dear. If there are still others to ask, find out all you can.

I custom assembled myself larger a Victorinox, as they do not offer the combination of tools I was looking for, other than the really large knife, which is too big! It replaced my Swiss Champ 15 years ago (though I still have that too), and does about everything I could want. For a locking blade, I also have the Victorinox rescue knife, which I used as a firefighter for many years, it's more safe, and the handle glows, in case you drop it in the dark!
