Sorry no pics as I'm tech challenged!! :D Use a Suski Eiger 400 with adapted plow for most removal. Use Kubota BX 23 for moving bulk snow banks when 4whlr will no longer climb snow ramp while pushing latest snowfall.

Two questions:
1.) Why are so many CUT blowers rear mount? Have cervical spine issues that would make it very painful to complete clearing my driveway and shed access path.
2.) Why are the front mount blowers about 40% to 60% more expensive?

Kioti DK 35 with a 9' power angle front blade and 7' rear blade.

1) Cheaper to purchase and adaptable to any tractor (of a given 3PH category). Higher volume of manufacture and sales.
2) Normally only adaptable to a given tractor manufacturers models. Relatively low production volumes, hence higher costs per unit. More complex driveline (from the mid or rear PTO).

Front blowers are definitely worthwhile if you plan on keeping the tractor for a long time...

rear mounted snow blowers are less expensive because:
1) cheaper to build, less engineering required to build. Fewer parts.
2) more applications (will go on many more different tractors without modifications) which means they are more popular and therefore more sold.
3) front mount blowers need to be designed for specific tractors so they have a very limited market. almost for each line of tractor. (some parts can be shared with other lines and modified to fit but for a manufacture these make a volume return on investment difficult)

The blower itself is nearly the same, but the big cost adder for front-mount is the drive shaft and mounting arrangement. The standard 3-point hitch works great for rear mounts but front mounts are a different game. Unless a tractor has a front facing pto, the drive comes from the back. (shaft or hydraulic pump)

Is that the Erskine PTO adapter kit for the front mount blower? How's that working for you? Kinda pricey?

Yes it's the Erskine front mount that includes the frame, lift cylinders, chain drive box for the rear pto, belly shaft, and reverse-rotation snowblower. I lucked into this one for short money on Craigslist. It had a 6 foot blower but now it's 7 feet wide. It works great - better than any other setup I've had (rear 6' blade, draw-forward 6' single-stage, rear 6' back-up 2 stage, rear 7' back-up 2 stage with drag blade, front 6') I need to get a life.

Our snow removal equipment centers around our Kubota L3130HST, acquired new in the fall of 2004. We also added an LA513 front end loader and an L2174A 62" front snow blower. The tractor/snow blower combination is used quite heavily in the winter, and it does a great job keeping our 600' driveway clear, as well as the two-track to our 30'x40' storage building located a hundred or so yards from the house.

A "normal" winter here averages 96", but (yes, I'm a weatherman), we've seen winters with snow amounts from 74" to 123" since acquiring the tractor. The Kubota really gets the job done. So far it's got 118 hours on it, and the bulk of those hours have been spent throwing snow.

Now you have to save some of that Lunch money and buy yourself a cab or a weather break

I purchased a Femco weather break and it really improved the enjoyment of blowing snow! Added a sun shade and it has become my poorman's tractor cab.
