It hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet, but my M7040 manual states that the filters can be washed several times before replacing.
I took a 5 gallon bucket and Dawn dish washing soap and let the filter soak in the water/soap mix for about a half hour. Then hosed it off very well.
It came out a light brown color rather than the pure white of a new one but light passes through it just fine. The washed one is used in place of a new white one when I have a particularly dusty job to do. Afterwards, the white one is put back on.
There is a 1000 hours on the inner filter and it looks like new. Blowing it off with air shows no dust. I'll use the new one that is still in the box someday, maybe.
