The inner filter doesn't need changing in most cases unless the outer filter has failed. I change my outer filters once a year but they need it. I don't go to the dealer though. Try looking at a local truck parts place like TruckPro. I get Donaldson filters @ about 25% dealer price.

Yup after reading posts in this thread, the $50 inner filter went back to the dealer......... I did install the outer filter & probably didn't need to....

I'll have to do a search for a Donaldson dealer............ :cheerful:

Just so you know, Donaldson makes filters for nearly everybody. Most likely the factory filters you run now are made by Donaldson.

I will guarantee the original one in my Kioti was.. said so right on it.

$50 for an inner filter ??.
I'd hate to know what the outer filter cost.

Your local auto parts store can get or cross the Donaldson number easily. My factory outter filter has Donaldson printed on it, I keep forgetting to write that number down to check on price and availability.

If truth be known Donaldson probably makes them anyway

Never attempt to clean an inner air filter. They are supposed to be a safety guard in case the outer fails or leaks. I never even remove mine unless I am replacing it which isn't very often. Hundreds of hours.

Outer air filters can be blown out a lot. We have a tracked skid steer that has been converted into a drilling rig and it drills holes using compressed air. Basically operates in a cloud of dust so thick sometimes you can't even see the machine. When in use it does this 12 hrs a day 7 day a week. We blow the air filter out daily and and maybe replace it after a few hundred hours. I have watched many dozer operators PM their machines and they blow their filters out daily and it is crazy how much dirt comes out. Maybe they change them back in the shop but I have never seen them change one on a job and sometimes they are there for weeks.

A typical homeowner tractor probably only needs an air filter every couple of years.

If you want your diesel engine to live you must feed it absolutely clean air. I use a shop vacuum to clean the outer filter every day when working in dusty conditions. Since the Kioti did not come with an inner filter I added it. it does not take much grit to dust an engine.
