Level 2-3 Acres

Just plow into it with your tractor and see the progress. If it doesn't work like ypou want, you can always get a dozer. I leveled out and carried a lot of dirt with mine and it was fun to boot. That's what a tractor is for, heaving fun.

If you average 3' of cut per acre, that's 4,840 CY of soil to move per acre. Not sure how large your bucket capacity is, but let's assume it's 1/2 CY, that's 9,680 bucket loads per acre. How long will it take you to dig a bucket of clay, move, dump and return? 1 minute? And assume you are getting 50 minutes of production per hour - that's 50 loads/ hr. 9680/50 = 193 hours per acre times 2-3 acres (2.5) = 482 hours.

Of course, you need to plug in the correct values - but these numbers probably are fairly close.

I didn't take the time to look up your fuel burn per hour, but it's probably 2 - 2.5 gal. Add a bit for oil and your wet costs are $10 an hour. Not including anything else - wear & tear, etc.

Do what you want - just helping you to picture the time involved. Have fun!
