LX-176 (not really a tractor)
Picking up my new B2320 Saturday to start learning it. One issue: main use will be where really level ground is very hard to find, no concrete pads etc. I want to drop the bushhog & backblade etc. plus reattach for use up there. Thinking to hunt up some pallets and try to shim with boards to get close to level? This work? I'm thinking the loader could come off too but honestly after reading infinite posts here may just never take that thing off. Getting an 18' trailer that I can use for some of this attach/reattach stuff but gotta eventually drop stuff on the ground

So...will the pallet thing work OK? Thinking to haul a couple up to Canada with me to leave there with my bush hog on it as that's the only place I need the rotary cutter. Thanks again,

Pallet idea will work fine except your implement and tractor will not be on the same grade. If you know what I mean. If you level the pallet and not the tractor then hook up could be a pain. If on the other hand you leave the pallet on the ground then the tractor and implement will be on the same grade.:confused2:

Leave the Loader on and use it to make a level spot to store your 3PT implements. I have NEVER taken my loader off, only tightened the connections at times initially after purchase. You have a tractor now, use it to modify your surroundings!

That's how you deal with that issue. Fully agree.

I put all my stuff on pallets, besides making it easier to attach weither the ground is flat or not, you can move it with the forks anytime you need to.

I honestly don't worry that much about the ground being perfectly level as I can hook unhook by adjusting the top-link or lift arm. As long as it is not too far off, I have shimmed it with a board or something.

I drop my equipment at different places, but if you are going to have one area, then leveling it with your FEL and/or box/grader blade and putting down a little rock or pallets as mentioned.

I take the FELs off fairly regularly.

Taking the FEL off and putting it back is much easier if the ground is reasonably level. 3PH implements usually aren't as critical since you unhooked from them there you should be able to hook back up to them there.

Like triple R, my loader is off unless I intend to be using it. Gets in the way for mowing etc.

Everything takes a little practice so find what works for you.

I never take my FEL off anymore. When I mowed a lot it was off and on constantly, but where I live now, in the woods in branson, mo. mowing is a sometimes thing, just to keep the brush under control. and the rough parts of the yard the lawn mower cannot safely get to. As for the flat ground, I have made every inch of it I have, except for the side yard, all of the flat ground for the barn, and implement area had to be manufactured by me and my friendly rock and dirt hauler. Just take your FEL and start making a flat spot, and if there is not enough dirt, then have some hauled in. Thats what I do.

Your place, your tractor, your FEL and your choice about keeping it on the tractor, Stubee. Go with whatever works best for you.

I think you'll find having a flat area for your implements does make the changing process easier, even with one of those quick hitch setups, so as others say, make that one of your first tractor projects. You'll learn how to use the machine and prepare something useful at the same time.

Do you have a flat, covered place to store the tractor itself? If not, that will soon become a need for you... where you can keep the tractor and all the related "stuff", like grease guns, fuel jugs, tools, etc. And, if you will be building a shed for the tractor, well maybe it can also be big enough for the implements?

As for the FEL, it is really easy to put on and take off. Like TripleR, ours go on and off all the time, depending on the job. Any maintenance work you do on the tractor is quite a bit easier with the loader removed. You should at least do it a few times so you know how.

Thanks guys. I'll level a spot. Sounds like as you say 3-pt implements level = not such a big deal.

Putting up a garage for the tractor. Only thing stored outside = bush hog & I'll cover gearbox.
